The passing of a friend.

Charles (Chuck) Houghton, Jr. was our Board Chairman and gave his time, his support but most importantly his heart to CMCS and those we serve. Through the midst of helping guide an organization with the depth and breadth of CMCS, Chuck did so with grace and optimism.

You would be as likely to see Chuck and Molly, his wife of 40 years, at our Walkathons as you would at an agency Board or finance meeting. Chuck was always there to greet you with a bright, welcoming smile.

Chuck retired after a successful career in banking and served on the Board of Cardinal McCloskey for nearly twenty years. He was formerly on the board of the American Heart Association of Westchester County and volunteered for the New York State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, and remained a regular volunteer for the Westchester Cancer Support Team and Meals on Wheels at St. Vincent's Hospital.

He was a man who lived to help others.

Chuck is survived by his wife Molly, and his children, Emily, Elizabeth, and Tim and his wife, Jenny. He was the definition of a family man who gave selflessly of himself to many causes and to many people in need.

We are forever grateful for having known Chuck. He was the type of person we all strive to be. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his presence and guidance will be missed.
